I wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to visit the Shambhala Chicago Meditation Center for some much-needed relaxation. It felt a bit hectic, which made it hard for me to connect with the mindfulness I was looking for. I also found the staff interactions lacking warmth and professionalism—there was a sense that they were more focused on managing schedules rather than fostering a welcoming atmosphere. I appreciate their mission to teach mindfulness, but a little more attention to maintaining a peaceful environment and respecting neighbors would go a long way. I think a rethink on some of their practices could really enhance the experience for everyone. I’ll hold off on returning for now until I hear they’ve made some improvements.
