KIPP Legacy Preparatory School

I walked in for an orientation at KIPP Legacy Preparatory School, and I have to say, the principal left a solid impression on me. His professionalism and clear passion for the students’ success really stood out. It felt good to see a school that not only focuses on education but also has resources for mental health and chronic disease management, which is so important these days. I’m cautiously optimistic about this school as a choice for my son, though I’d love to feel a bit more comfortable with some aspects of the environment. Overall, the goals of the school resonate with me, and I appreciate that they offer a variety of support services. Looking forward to figuring this all out! 😊

Not long after enrolling my son at the school in Northeast Houston, I found myself questioning whether I made the right choice. Initially, I approached the entire process with a sense of optimism, but as time went on, my skepticism grew. I appreciate that the school provides various health services, including emergency care and medication management, but sometimes it felt like there was a lack of clarity on how these services were implemented. I’m all for community resources and parental education workshops, but I wanted to feel more assured about my son's safety, especially when it came to issues like mental health support and chronic disease management. When I've had interactions with the staff, they seemed genuinely concerned, but I still walked away feeling uneasy. I just want the best for my son and to know he’s in a safe environment.

After just a few sessions, I was really impressed with the quality of the lesson plans being provided. The content is engaging and seems to really cater to the students' needs. However, I couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration with some classroom management issues. A few teachers seem to struggle with maintaining discipline, which at times overshadowed the positive aspects of the curriculum. I believe reinforcing discipline policies for misbehaving students could really improve the overall learning environment. Overall, I appreciate the efforts put into making learning more effective, but there's room for improvement in classroom control.
