After visiting the facility in Dyer, I have to say I was quite scared by the whole atmosphere. Instead of feeling comforted, I ended up feeling more anxious during my time there. It would definitely help if they allowed shoes and created a less intimidating environment. Unfortunately, I left feeling that my needs weren’t addressed at all.

While I waited for my turn at the Partial Hospitalization Program, I found myself reflecting on the support I had hoped to receive. The environment felt more clinical than nurturing, which was disappointing. I often felt like just another name on a list rather than a person in need of care. Communication with the staff regarding my treatment progress and discharge status left much to be desired. I expected to be updated regularly about my progress, but I often had to inquire myself. I believe that improving the connection and communication with patients—and their families—could significantly enhance the overall experience. Mental health is delicate, and the way care is delivered matters immensely.
