Customer Reviews
Brandie H.
I had high hopes when I first reached out to First To Serve for transitional shelter in South Los Angeles. What I appreciated was their mission to help women like me, seeking safety from abusive situations. However, my experience was a mixed bag. I found the housing facilities to be decent, but the support I expected from the staff was lacking. There were moments when I felt really unheard, and my concerns seemed to be dismissed, which was disappointing. I genuinely wanted to feel safe and supported, but the staff, including Reverend Richard Reed, could improve how they engage with residents. It would be nice if they made an effort to listen more and create a more welcoming environment. Safety is crucial for women in vulnerable situations, and I hope they can enhance their approach in the future.

To my surprise, I found a true sense of community and support while attending the 12-step program here. It has been an incredible journey, and I couldnβt believe how welcomed I felt from day one. The staff really took the time to get to know me and provide the encouragement I needed. After many years struggling with alcoholism, I can proudly say I'm now 16 years sober and living a joyful, drug-free life. The resources and connections I've made have been invaluable, and itβs comforting to have such a strong network behind me. If you're looking for a place that genuinely cares about your recovery journey, this is it!
