As soon as I walked through the doors, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. I was battling some intense emotional struggles and knew I needed help, but finding the right place felt overwhelming. After hearing about the counseling services available, especially the trauma counseling, I decided to give it a try. My sessions with Haley changed everything. I didn’t expect the experience to be so disheartening. I reached out for counseling services, hoping to find some support for what I’ve been going through as a victim of domestic violence. Living in Downtown Houston, I thought I’d find some help close to home. However, the initial interactions left me feeling more confused and frustrated than before. It seemed like communication was lacking, and I felt brushed off rather than truly supported. I believe there needs to be a stronger emphasis on making sure victims feel they have a safety net, regardless of their financial situation. It’s disheartening when you’re already fragile and can’t seem to find the help you desperately need.
